A Keadeen Hotel Wedding
Another fantastic day was had at the fabulous Keadeen Hotel when Ruarigh and Amy brought over 250 guests from their ceremony in the Curragh camp. The day started out at Amy and Ruarigh’s house where all the ladies were gathered to get ready for the big day ahead. On the way in the door I was met with a sign displaying the words “This is the start of something wonderful” and so this day proved to be.
Then it was a 5 min trip to the curragh camp where the outdoor wedding ceramony was due to be held in the fabulous garden at the officer’s mess. When I arrived, Ruarigh was putting the finishing touches on the military jeep. I hadn’t met the groom up till now and I was immediately welcomed with a big hug and broad smile. While over 250 guest arrived, Ruarigh seemed to have a smile and warm hug for everyone!
Half way through the ceramony, the threatening clouds finally opened, this didn’t bother the guests but the bride, groom and the celebrant were left out in the rain. The groom’s men came to the rescue with umbrellas in hand and we got some amazing photos. The weather took nothing from the day, in fact, it may have added.
Photographing weddings at an outdoor ceremony in Ireland always carries a risk. On the positive side, outdoor ceremonies usually have more space to move around as a photographer and of course, the natural light.
On way to the Keadeen, we stopped briefly in the curragh plains to grab a few photos with the newly married couple.
On arrival, we were greeted by the O’ Loughlan family. At this stage the weather had really picked up. It was straight through to the award winning gardens that the Keadeen is famous for. Within a few minutes, all 250 guests where on the immaculate lawns enjoying refreshments and taking part in what seemed to be the “selfie fest”.
The Keadeen hotel is one of my favourite wedding venues to work at. The staff can never do enough for you, their banqueting hall is second to none. Amy and Ruarigh’s wedding was one of the most fantastic weddings I’ve had the pleasure of covering. Just have a look at their wedding images below and judge for yourself. I’ve never seen so many smiles.
